Dr. Lisa Schwartz completed her PhD in philosophy at the University of Glasgow and is currently a professor for the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence and Impact (HEI) at McMaster University. Alongside this, she is the Arnold L. Johnson Chair in Health Care Ethics and the associate chair of equity, diversity and inclusion – Indigenous reconciliation (EDI-IR) in the HEI department. Dr. Schwartz’s commitment to promoting inclusive excellence is highlighted by her various contributions. She presently leads the HEI justice, equity, diversity, inclusion and Indigenous reconciliation (JEDI-IR) working group, is a member of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) EDI-IR Advisory Committee, serves as an EDI-IR advisor on hiring processes and sits on Black-excellence hiring panels, events and planning committees. Dr. Schwartz has supervised and mentored students living at intersections of experiences and identified as member of equity-deserving groups.
